Explore, learn, and play at SFMOMA with this gallery game, hosted by Dingo and Collie - two colorful canine characters from Roy De Forest’s painting, Country Dog Gentlemen. Working together as guides, the canine companions help you explore the objects and spaces around them encouraging family visitors of all ages to have fun!

Created for children aged 6-10 and their families, the gallery game encourages you to look, move, listen, and find fun ways to get talking about art. At the end of each round, the game introduces you to a new canine companion from the Country Dog Gentlemen painting.

The game works in any museum regardless of its collection or physical layout.

At the beginning of each turn, you are given a Move! instruction to follow, which might encourage you to further explore the space you are currently in, lead you into another gallery space or even ask you to travel to a different floor of the building.

After you move, one of eight randomly selected activities is presented. From observation and discussions to word or color prompts, the activities give you fun ways to look closely and get talking about what you see and how you feel when you look at art.

After each turn, uncover one piece of a new dog “friend.” Each dog friend takes four turns to “meet” and Dingo and Collie have 9 “friends” in total. The real prize, of course, is the fun of learning to talk about and experience art!
